This is a guitar and vocal demo of a song I wrote after a break-up and thinking about all the ways I could get over it. I kept coming back to the idea that I just didn't want to...and so the song was born...
I am interested in hearing feedback on the lyrics, the story and the overall delivery. I think this song is complete and I'm happy with it but would love to know how it is received as well as what everyone thinks about the commercial viability.
Definitely a song people can relate to and I can hear this being done by a recording artist. I think the lyrics are great and the story keeps me interested throughout.

Sean…I really like this song. The story. The melody. The Chorus. It all falls into place very nicely. And you can feel it all through your voice.

Verse 1
There's a man at the end of the bar
Knockin’ back shots, talkin’ 'bout scars
And his broken heart
Drowning memories in his beer
Watered down with a couple of tears
And more than a few, wasted years
Pre-chorus
That could be me drinkin' 'bout you
If I wanted to
Chorus 1
I could be there every night
Shootin' whiskey killin' time
Letting your memory wash away like rain
Killing myself, killing the pain
'Til I don't even know your name
Well maybe that's just what I should do
But I don't want to
Verse 2
Different guy a different bar
A pretty girl hanging off each arm
He’s got the devil’s smile
He's got it all yet nothing to lose
Cheap women, expensive booze
And the fastest car. Knows nothing 'bout a broken heart
Pre-Chorus
Tearin' it up out on the town
When the sun goes down
Chorus 2
I could be there every night
Staying out 'til the morning light
Raising hell and dancing with the devil
I'd never have to sleep alone
I'd find a girl and I'd take her home
In the morning I’d get up and put on my boots
But I don't want to
Instrumental Break
Final Chorus
I want to be the man that's by your side
When you lay down your head at night
I want to be the one to kiss you in the morning
I could get on with my life
Just let you go girl I'd be fine
People say that's what I need to do
But I don't want to
Tag
I don't want to
Baby I don't want to
I still want you

Robert Markham
Has a sort of Bruce Cockburn feel to it. Good job!
