About This Song

Firing a salvo in the direction of what I call "Cookie Cutter Country Music"...

All the songs and artists sound the same it's like one giant bad song.

Feedback Requested

As always any and all feedback welcome.

I'm sure some may take exception to this song but hey that's why I wrote it...to stir up some emotions.

Hey, Tony… tell us how you REALLY feel, why don’t ya!  I’m staying out of the “real-country-vs-not-real-county” argument, but this does have some clever lines about “pretty” and “boys,” etc.  And it has an appropriate feel for your target audience.

Hope that helps!  Please take a moment to leave a comment on another writer’s song.  It doesn’t have to be super-detailed or anything.  Just a thought or two about the song.  (Also, the best way to GET feedback is to GIVE feedback.)  Thanks!

Real Country Music

Written by Tony True

Verse 1
First they took out all the fiddles and then went steel guitars - 13
Then chose the prettiest ones they could find to try be their stars - 15
(And those were just the guys)
You can’t tell what they call country music from pop diva radio - 15
And auto-tune’s replaced all the voices we used to love and know - 15

Chorus
But fans of real country music you know they don’t give a damn
‘Bout your tailgate, beer kegs, your girl while you're trying to look glam
They tried so hard to kill the heart and soul of the music that we love
Now they’re in for a hell of a fight, cause we’re takin’ of the gloves

Verse 2
Some of them think that they’re smart in trying to trash our fans - 13
Truth is we don’t care ‘bout the views of wanna be boy bands – 14
Just let me hear that lonesome fiddle and some cryin' pedal steel
Give me Haggard, Jones, Cash and Williams, now they’re the real deal - 14

Chorus
But fans of real country music you know they don’t give a damn
‘Bout your tailgate, beer kegs, your girl while you're trying to look glam
They tried so hard to kill the heart and soul of the music that we love
Now they’re in for a hell of a fight, cause we’re takin’ of the gloves

Verse 3
When the dust settles and the curtains close we’ll still be standing tall - 16
Cause all their fans will have moved on while their careers free fall
And in 20 years when they've matured they’ll come back for real the thing
Honest songs that tell the truth and make you wanna sing

Chorus
Cause fans of real country music you know they don’t give a damn
‘Bout your tailgate, beer kegs, your girl while you're trying to look glam
They tried so hard to kill the heart and soul of the music that we love
Now they’re in for a hell of a fight, cause we’re takin’ of the gloves
