This is a demo that Linda Davis was gracious enough to record the vocals on for me. This was one of the last songs that we recorded at Bayou Studio with George Clinton before his health deteriorated, and the studio closed a short time later. It was a magical session!

I can relate to Marvin’s comments. I also wanted the melody line in the chorus to continue on its climb (3rd line) but it was brought back down quickly. I thought you gave up a nice chance there to bring in some robust and reaching harmonies. It seems it would have been splendid right there on that line, and then back down for the final line. I dunno. That’s just my opinion. You obviously are a skilled writer. Good work.

Well first of all Marvin, I have said it before..I love the way you write and you have some great chord progressions not just the run of the mill 3 chord wonders. As for the Lyric since it’s really a torch song “Love’s Gonna get us all” I Love it..Love got me years ago and never left, unfortunately I did not marry that Girl and this song makes it come alive, at least for me it does. keep it going

Once I had a lonely heart
Lookin’ for my missin’ part
Disappointed by more than one mistake
I was thinkin’ ‘bout givin’ up
When out of nowhere there it was
Love’s gonna get us all someday
Now sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It took a little longer
To finally come my way
Love’s gonna get us all someday
So if you’ve got a lonely heart
Lookin’ for your missin’ part
Don’t worry it's always worth the wait
You don't have to settle for less
If life starts to feel like one big mess
Cause love’s gonna get us all someday
And sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It might be 'round the corner
Or down the road a ways
But love’s gonna get us all someday
It’s not fate, and it’s not luck
Yet sometimes the wait seems way to much
To ask, but hold on it’s comin’
When is always hard to say
But hearts full of love always find their way
Love’s gonna get us all someday
And sunshine feels warmer
Skys a bluer shade
It might be 'round the corner
Or down the road a ways
But love’s gonna get us all someday
Yeah love's gonna get us all
Oh love's gonna get us all
Love's gonna get us all someday

Hi Marvin,
Your song has heart, and is a nice production with a fine singer expressing the theme of finding love.
All the elements for a satisfying listener experience are present. So, why did I feel a disconnect here? I couldn’t figure it out at first, but after several listenings, I think I’ve found a couple of things.
First, the song appears to be mostly about the joy of finding love. But, the Hook/Title line, to me, suggests something negative about finding love.
The words “gonna get us all” in the hook/title “Love’s Gonna Get Us All Someday” felt like the singer was saying love is something that, like death and taxes, we all will have to suffer someday. I also had a fleeting association or thought of the phrase “The boogie man is gonna get you” while listening to the hook/title line.
Second, the verses could line up better with the hook/title.
The hook/title appears to be a hasty generalization: the song looks at one case (the singer’s) and generalizes that it represents all persons (Us—the listeners, the singer, and singer’s new-found special someone). In other words, the verse lines (especially in the first two sections) don’t fully support the conclusion stated in the hook/title.
That’s some of what I heard in this song.
Mostly, I heard that you are a fine songwriter.
