About This Song

A Lover's Christmas, is the perspective of a romantic couple at that time of year. As a fan of both artist I had the obscure thought of what Abba and Coldplay might sound like singing together on a Christmas song. This song is a take on what I was hearing in my head.

Hi, Tre!  Merry Christmas and thanks for sharing your song with us.  I like that it’s a romantic holiday duet, positive, and has some tempo to it.

However, I don’t get a real memorable hook/title from it.  I was waiting for “On Ember” to show up… but it didn’t.  What will the listener search for on Spotify, iTunes, etc. if they want to hear it again but didn’t already know the title?  “Just how we like?”  Maybe…

Hope that helps.  Please pay it forward by leaving a comment on another writer’s song.  Doesn’t have to be in-depth or authoritative- just your thoughts.  The best way to GET feedback is to GIVE feedback, after all!  Thanks!

Hi Brent,

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like the concept smile. Not making the title a part of the song lyric was done purposely. As you know it’s not a unique concept it’s been done plenty of times, here’s a list: https://www.songfacts.com/category/songs-with-titles-that-are-not-part-of-the-lyrics

Another concept I’ve been reading up on is “Verse only songs” : https://www.secretsofsongwriting.com/2011/12/21/the-role-of-the-hook-in-verse-only-songs-2/

The more I learn it seems there really aren’t any rules. I’m finding it’s predominately Country music who’s songwriting rules are the most rigid. Moving forward, with the songs that I’d hope to pitch to Country artist I plan to follow those rules to a tee as I’m going to do with a re-write of my recent upload, December 24th (One Night). With “A Lovers Christmas” since it’s more in the pop / novelty arena I just wanted to provide a fun Holiday environment.

The one advantage we as songwriters have now with streaming is when a person discovers a song for the first time the title is usually readily available. Terrestial radio, if I’m lucky, is where I’ll have a problem lol. Thanks again for noticing Buddy I really appreciate it! smile. Regards, Tre

Hi Tre, Very nice song! I like the melody, your female vocalist’s voice, and the interplay with the male vocalist. Very nice vibe and feel, geat melody and lyrics, great arrangement for the song.

I would agree with Brent regarding the title of your main hook. “Just How We Like,” seems more like the main hook to me, based on the way you repeat it, and the message of the song.

Great job!

Hey Reid how are you?, I’m glad you like it!. Thanks for taking the time to listen. Like Brent I can totally see why you hear it that way. If I had a do over maybe I’d consider renaming it Christmas (How we like) or something to that effect just to make it easier on the listener. Rest assured your feedback and thoughts are well noted my friend. Wishing you and your family a Happy Holiday season, enjoy. Thanks again, it’s very much appreciated! smile. Best, Tre

On Ember Feat. Blend -...

Written by Tre Carn

Verse 1:
It’s a Happy Holiday
Gonna call my love and celebrate
Cause Christmas Eve is on it’s way tonight
To bring the world delight

Pre-Chorus:
It’s our night
And I wanna hold you near
Tonight

Chorus:
It’s Christmas time
And I want too
Stay up all night
To be with you
A little fire inside
A cozy room
Just how we like
Just how we like

Verse 2:
The smell of romance fills the air
There’s love in every gift we share
2 of us kissing here by candlelight
Under the Mistletoe tonight

Pre-Chorus:
It’s our night
And I wanna hold you near
Tonight

Chorus:
It’s Christmas time
And I want too
Stay up all night
To be with you
A little fire inside
A cozy room
Just how we like
Just how we like

Bridge:
So darling what is your wish for tell me your wish for Christmas Day
I want a diamond from the gift store that says I love you baby

Pre-Chorus:
It’s our night
And I wanna hold you near
Tonight

Extended Chorus:
It’s Christmas time
And I want too
Stay up all night
To be with you
A little fire inside
A cozy room
Just how we like
Just how we like
I got a chilled glass of wine
Le Cordon Bleu
A rose for a dime
So beautiful
On a snow covered night
A perfect view
Just how we like
Just how we like
