I think there’s some nice stuff going on in this (particularly lyrically). I thought there’s some interesting advice lyrically in the verses (somewhat along the lines of Tim McGraw’s “Humble And Kind”). (Chorus) / (Chorus) / (Chorus/Outro)—FIRST word in each of these three sections (“to” and “you” and “is”: 1) I thought the “to” was not necessary, 2) I liked both the “you” and (especially) the “is”

~ ~ ~
“the only thing love won’t let me do
is Turn & walk away
Turn & walk away
when your friends lead you astray
you turn & walk away
and you know it’s not ok
you turn & walk away
you turn & walk away
turn & walk away”

Wasn’t sure whether you were saying 1) that you need to turn and walk away when your friends lead you astray, or 2) Love won’t let you turn and walk away when your friends lead you astray—that’s why the last chorus/outro was slightly confusing for me—but other folks may take it slightly differently, and not be confusing by that last section of the song.

Anyway, some nice things happening in your song. Best wishes in your songwriting endeavors!

Turn & Walk Away

Written by Bobby Davis

Some of life's best lessons
are the one's I learned at home
tried my best but they didn't sink in
until I was nearly grown

mom taught me the golden rule
to sit up straight & never act a fool
that can't never could & lie's can hurt
to wipe my feet & how to fold a shirt
to say what I mean, mean everything I say
& when my heart tells me something ain't ok

to Turn & walk away
Turn & walk away

Dad taught me how to bait a hook
skip a rock on a lake
& common sense ain't in a book
said being done means you double check
saying yes sir & no ma'am show respect
to always make time to laugh, cry & pray
& when your friends try to lead you astray

to Turn & walk away
turn & walk away

they said one day I'll be grown
& have a family of my own
they'll look to me & hope I know the truth
they'll watch me fall & make mistakes
& know I want to quit some days
but the only thing love won't let me do

is Turn & walk away
Turn & walk away
when your friends lead you astray
you turn & walk away
and you know it's not ok
you turn & walk away
you turn & walk away
turn & walk away
