About This Song

Bluesy alternative country sound similar to Chris Stapleton or Midland, with a chorus reminiscent of the Eagles.

Marvin, that 4M chord at the end of the first two lines of the 1st & 2nd verses threw me at first, but as I listened to the song the second time around, I looked forward to hearing it - very interesting.  It’s too bad Tom Petty isn’t with us any longer, as I could sure hear him making this a rock song.  Another good job, My Friend!!!

Sorry, Marvin, that’s a 3m, not a 4M.

“Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance”—Great line, BUT I would be tempted to get rid of the initial word “though” (as it’s not necessary)—overall, pretty solid.

Hi Marvin! Nice voice…perfect for this song:)  I enjoyed these lyrics and love the title.  I wish you good luck with this one.  I have to agree with Jack…perfect “Petty” song!

Choices of the Heart

Written by Marvin Adcock

We didn’t choose to fall in love - it kinda just sucked us in
A decision that simply was - made without questionin’
It wasn’t a roll of the dice - we knew right from the start
Some things you don’t even think twice - they’re choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

The first time I laid eyes on you - my heart told my mind and soul
Somethin’ they both already knew - this time I’m takin’ control
Typically you’d shrug me off - with a stinging remark
Just like me you were already lost - to choices of the heart

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart

We spent that night - just talkin’ and laughin’
It felt so right - just lettin’ love happen

Though I was a man of little persistence
You were a woman prone to resistance
Two hearts opened up to unexpected love
We were caught completely off guard
By choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
Choices of the heart
