About This Song

This song is about having feelings for somebody but never telling them and years later seeing a picture of them brings those feelings to the surface all over again.

Stephen Winnett, I believe you’re a Rocker!  I liked “Picture.”  I feel a bit out of line, as I am no expert in terms of being a song critic, but I can tell you that I like this song.  And, I believe we can all relate to the story line!  I think it would be helpful if you provided a lyric sheet.  All said, again I like your vocals and guitar playing.  And, I look forward to hearing more of your tunes!!!

Hi Stephen, cool song, I like it, I like the dynamic changes. Pretty much in the tradition of Pearl Jam, you are close to them. I agree with Jack, a lyric sheet would be helpful.

@Jack Speer, thanks for the review and the kind words. I took you and Franks advice and posted the lyrics!
Im glad you enjoyed listening to the track and as always I appreciate you taking the time to listen and review.

@Frank Renfordt, thank you as well for taking the time listen to my track and for the kind words. Funny you should mention Pearl Jam, I write mostly Country now (Posting soon), but back in my rocker days I got a lot of Pearl Jam comments.
I have been posting some of my older rock tunes first because I don’t have any pro studio recordings of my Country tracks yet.

hi stephen.  So much feeling and passion here, great job! My only other comments would be maybe it could be shortened a little, maybe make the second verse half as long.

I should say I am in Nashville and write mostly folk pop country, so that affects what how I critique.

Richard thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to review my song “Picture”. I would agree that the song is a bit long and I think it gets to the point early on, so shortening the second verse could certainly be done here, along with some other snips. Length of time is pretty universal as far as the 3 to 3.5 marker for radio, although some genres do get away with pushing it a bit but I think your critique fits quite fine here and its always welcomed. Thank you again.

(Verse 1)
Im just sitting here staring at your picture
you're just staring back at me with that glitter in your eye
made me realize how much I miss you and how bad I wanted to kiss you
when you were in my life
I never told you then, I wished we were more than friends
Now I kick myself when I think about, what could have been
So much has changed, both our lives all rearranged
Its funny after all these years I still feel the same

(Chorus 1)
I miss your smile. I miss your voice, I hope that I made the right choice
You're in my heart, you're in my head, theres a thousand things I should have said

(Verse 2)
I been wondering what your doing, who have you been seeing
and are they right for you and good to you
Cause in my heart theres an ache thats brewing
just thinking bout what Im losing, and I don't know what to do
I can't sleep at night, everything's so cut and dry
I been wondering why, since the day that you said good bye
Well did I make you mad, or did I treat you bad
Or are you just someone that I will never have

(Chorus 2)
I miss your smile, I miss your voice, I hope that I made the right choice
but now you're gone and I'm still here, still thinking of you after all these years

(Bridge)
Maybe I should have told you, I wanted to hold you, never let you go
maybe you would have let me, but I didn't ask you and now I'll never know 2x

(Chorus 3)
I miss your smile, I miss your voice, I hope that I made the right choice
I miss your smile, I miss your voice, I hope that I made the right choice
You're in my heart, you're in my head, theres a thousand things I could have said
It tears me up that you don't know, how hard its been to let you go

(Outro)
Just sitting here lost in your picture, so lost in your picture oh oh
