About This Song

About a cat, the orig story I borrowed from the book "Dewey, the small town library cat" and put it in a new setting. embellished and expanded. by the way if you're a cat person you Must read that book, and be prepared to mop the floor at the end.

Feedback Requested

You will notice the opt verse 4, I'd like to know whether to use that- the 3 hanky version- or keep as is, maybe a 1 hanky? wife doesnt want the tear jerker, but that's her......

Kirk,
I was quite surprised to see 78 views and no feedback! Well I am glad to be the 79th view and I had to give you feedback on this one. I haven’t heard a song this cute in quite some time. You have a great story hear and you have fantastic imagery in your lyrics, I could picture the events as they happened. On another note, since I own a small company I am always for support of the mom and pa shops of yesterday so kudos for that too! I thought it was a fun song with a great story.

Lacy Saved the Day

Written by Richard Kirk

LACY SAVED THE DAY
One wintry morn a hungry kitten wandered through the door
The tabby strolled into my uncle Ray’s small town hardware store
She liked the place so much, she decided to call it home
People quickly took to her, like she was one of their own

Ray had been so worried bout how business had been down
For many years his had been the only place in town
A big box outside of town had been squeezing him in
But with this cat he named Lacy, things were looking up again

Lacy loved everyone who came into the shop
With a heart so big she always gave much more than she got
They came from miles around to see her, couldn’t stay away
Sure as the sun rises, LACY SAVED THE DAY

She was grateful to Ray for having rescued her
So she greeted folks by rubbing against their legs, then she would purr
Afternoons found her asleep atop the nails and hammers aisle
Because of her sales were steady, and Ray broke into a smile
CH
This all took place 10 years ago, now my uncle, he’s past on
We were close, it’s not the same now he’s gone
But I promised him I’d run the store the best that I can do
And with the help of little Lacy, we’re gonna see it through
Last CH
Lacy loves everyone who came into the shop
With a heart so big she’s always given much more than she’s got
They come from miles around to see her, just can’t stay away
Sure as the sun rises, LACY SAVED THE DAY
(optional verse 4) Ray passed on 10 years ago, I’ve run the store best I can do
Then last March Lacy got cancer, now she’s moved on too
Before she left this world, I thanked her for what she did
I said, “Someday I’m sure I’ll see you on the Rainbow Bridge”
