I like the melody. First impression is the lyrics might need a bit of refinement. I definitely appreciate the sentiment about seeing beautiful places and engaging in wondrous adventures but realizing that your lady is the one who truly gives your life meaning and substance. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Love the groove! You are definitely in the pocket.
It’s great that you mention a specific place that people can picture because of familiarity with the name of Picasso.
The second verse paints another great mind picture, and the 3rd brings it all home. Excellent!
Thanks for sharing.

Hi, David- welcome to Frettie!  Thanks for sharing your song with us.  I like that it’s a positive, love song singing directly to your lover.  I like the title and main idea.  Some nice imagery in there, too.  “Bright diamondly” is an unusual way to say it… but I dig it. I look forward to hearing more of your music.

Hope that helps!  Please take a moment to leave a comment on another writer’s song.  It doesn’t have to be super-detailed or anything.  Just a thought or two about the song.  (Also, the best way to GET feedback is to GIVE feedback.)  Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Haydee - we’ve been married almost fifty years…this was written in Picasso’s garden on our anniversary. Frome the heart.

Roy - love the way you’ve encapsulated the arc of the song. If I can find a great singer for this, I think it could go somewhere.

Brent - thanks for the welcome! I love your sites and the incredible advice and encouragement you give us all. I know that being an Englishman I have a very different approach to songwriting, but I’m still learning and trying to hone the craft. ‘Bright Diamondly’ Where the heck did that come from? Sometimes my invented phrases and words really express what I’m trying to say.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to listen.

I’m looking forward to this new journey.

Here (Is Where The Heart...

Written by David Ireland

Here Is Where The Heart Is written by David Ireland Michael Cooling

I’ve walked Picasso’s gardens
Found his sketches on a stone
Taking tea with BB
The two of them alone
But you’re here with me
And here is where the heart is

I’ve watched electric storms
Kiss the shoreline of the sea
Shimmering and shining
Bright diamondly
But you’re here with me
And Here is where the heart is

I could travel to the moon and back
And never find what I’ve been longing for
Throw my arms around the world
And never find what I’ve been looking for
it’s here at my door
I’ll search no more
Cause now your here with me
And here is where the heart is

I’ve wined and dined with princes
Pretenders to the throne
But fairytales and poetry
Are better home grown
Cause now you’re here with me
And here is where the heart

Just stay here with me
Cause here is where my heart will always be
Here is where the heart is
And here is where i always wanna be

I’ve walked Picasso’s footsteps
Found his sketches on a stone
Taking tea with you
The two of us alone
But you’re here with me
And here is where the heart is

Now you’re with me
Here with me
And here is where the heart is
Here is where the heart is
You’re here with me
Always here with me
And here is where my heart is
Where the heart is
