I really do like the lines at the end there,

“a strange knowledge
lighting your face
and your arms draped
lovingly
round your dreams”

For me, that really brought the image of someone laying asleep (adults as much as children even, as in sleep we lose all the trappings of “being grown up” that we all put on every day in terms of how we act, carry ourselves, and so on!) - I could see just the kind of look you meant!

Thanks a million Tommy and thanks for giving the song a listen. It means a lot. I love the ending too. John has a gift with words.

Lullaby Number 1 (Round your dreams)

Written by Gerry Morgan

I will leave you to sleep
there lightly lying
curled as if not yet born
in your world that is
so different
from ours
from mine

Cautiously
for fear I might wake you
I will go and let you lie
a strange knowlede
lighting your face
and your arms draped
lovingly
round your dreams
