This song is about memories of country life, gardening, singing, and Grandmothers porch. I wanted to write a simple old style bluegrass song that has a little more depth to it, possibly in the category of Gillian Welch's music. I will use studio musicians for mandolin, bass and bluegrass guitar to add the traditional style in it. I recorded this file before work yesterday so sorry if its a little groggy! haha.
Looking for feedback on the lyrics mostly. Just want to make sure the story makes sense and makes the listener think a little bit but not to the point of confusion. I'm contemplating changing the format around like having one less chorus and possibly a second instrumental break to break up the repetition. Thank you all for your feedback. Frettie is an awesome site!
I found your lyrics; the song structure is new to me because I don’t typically follow bluegrass.

A great song worthy of your voice, telling a simple, a heart-warming story. I can’t wait to hear the other instruments added to the demo.

Theres a memory I often think of
From Long ago in the summertime
We’d snap beans and can tomatoes
And music filled our simple country life
A D
Every time I hear those songs
A
I see her face
D
And those cool summer evenings
A D
On the porch at my grandmothers place
Her grey hair, and silver glasses
Her sweet smile would brighten up your day
Her little house and garden patches
Felt so safe as she kept the old ways
Blessed Assurance, Rock of Ages
Where the Soul Never Dies
The harmony with night time cicadas
No sweeter sound could fill the skies
Some thrones are gold and in stone castles
Some wood and wicker chair
Some medals worn on chests and shoulders
Some stacked high in cellars with care

Sandra Lynn,
I love this song! I love the melody, your vocal tone, and guitar track. My only wish is if you wouldn’t mind, posting the lyrics. My knee can’t stop bopping.
Best of luck,
Michael Klenda
