Nice job, great tune. I like the wordplay but it’s a little confusing. For example, “Maybe slide through the glasses then rise from the ashes just to see if your calling” just doesn’t make sense to me. I run into the same problem throughout. It sounds like you’re stringing together words euphonically without regard for the meaning. I can’t tell if you’re still in love and want her or if you’re encouraging her to get out.  Good imagery and prosody, though, and it’s nice on the ear.

Hey, Nick!  Thanks for sharing.  I dig the vibe, production and vocal.  I like the title, too.

I’m with Michael Roth- the lyric is kinda confusing.  I’m having to spend too much time in my head (figuring out the song) instead of staying in my heart (feeling the song).  Aim for more clarity in the lyric.

Overall, I get the “I love you, but you need to leave” thing from it.  But I’m not sure.  So I don’t know how to feel.  While it grooves, it lacks emotional impact because I’m not sure what’s going on or what you want me to feel.

But there’s a lot of cool stuff in here- you just need to keep polishing it.  I can tell you have it in you- just keep on digging.

Hope this is helpful.  Please pay it forward by leaving a comment on another writer’s song.  Thanks!

Hmmm… this is the second song of your I like. You are a writer my friend! If I was a publisher I would look at your whole catalog. Good production and the singer is a good one for this song (if it is you or not). Modern country feel but modern in a GOOD way. I haven’t read any other comments and will do so now. Good job Nick.

Ok… I just saw your link to your video… you DO have something going here and a great band. Keep ‘em together and keep playing originals like you have here. Good luck to you Nick and keep focused on your music and you might go far.

Turn For the Door

Written by Nick Clyburn

I've been driving all day long and I just can't make out the words
We've been at it for far too long like a sad sad song, well it hurts

Well its getting crazy, yeah crazy, whats crazy is I'm crazy in love
Get together lately? yeah baby, Am I still what you have been thinking of?

Because it don't feel like it used to when you smile now, used to be bedroom
dancing heavy glancing, damn girl you used to be so wild, I'll do whatever it takes,
its make or break but as soon as the love hits the floor take a turn for your purse
take that turn for the worst leave my key on the table and take a turn for the door

Whats a man got to do, whats a man got to prove to you that hes falling? Maybe slide through the glasses then rise from the ashes just to see if your calling,

well its getting crazy yeah crazy whats crazy is you've run out of time, get together lately nah baby I think you finally done lost your mind

Because it don't feel like it used to when you smile now, used to be bedroom dancing heavy glancing, damn girl you used to be so wild. I'll do whatever it takes it's make or break but as soon as the love hits the floor take a turn for your purse take that turn for the worst leave my key on the table and take a turn for the door.
