How the singer feels he will have a very hard time replacing his former lover.
general critique. I've rewritten this one a number of times, so I know it's got some good qualities, always looking to tweak and make things better.

A HARD ACT TO FOLLOW
Scattered pieces of a puzzle, lying on the table
That’s what my heart felt like ever since you left
I’ve been lost without a compass, looking for my angel
Hope someday I’ll come across her, but I haven’t found her yet
You’re a HARD ACT TO FOLLOW
I can’t forget that happiness we knew
You’re a HARD ACT TO FOLLOW
How am I supposed to find another you?
Summer evenings on the porch swing, rockin’ you gently
How softly I’d caress you, never thought those times would end
But paradise crumbled, I’ve got bittersweet memories
Your headin’ for the highway’s left me twisting in the wind
CH
I keep wakin’ up each morning, to see what each day brings
Searching for my Juliet, waitin’ in the wings
(last CH) But you’re a HARD……..

Hey, Richard! Thanks for sharing. Nice image to start the song. The title has a big melodic spotlight on it, so I know the title even without seeing the lyric- well done.
In the 2nd verse, do we even need to go to the negative ending to their love? If you keep it all positive, it just reinforces that their love was so good- and we get the breakup through the mere fact that the singer is looking for someone new. Just a thought.
Hope this helps. Keep at it! And pay it forward by leaving a comment on another writer’s song. Thanks!
