Not a bad song James. My first thought was the poor EQ of the recording. But you aren’t a bad singer and guitarist and a simple warmer EQ would really make it more listenable. Perhaps just take the whole recording and place a warmer EQ on it so you don’t have to remix anything.
On the lyrics overall I liked them and I liked the hook line especially. But the second line stuck out as forced: “She might be gone but she’s there to stay”. I would be rewriting that maybe. I know what you are saying with the line but it just sticks out as something that should be rewritten to improve the song.
Good job brother… good job.

Vs 1
There’s the one that gets away
She might be gone but she’s there to stay
She’ll float in and out of your life
Like a crazy butterfly
In a crowd
Or when you’re alone
Yeah, there’s some things
I Wish I Didn’t Know
Chorus
Like that last shot
At last call
When you’ve already had enough alcohol
Like that last kiss
From her lips
Then you wake up one day to your bed cold
Yeah, there’s some things
I Wish I Didn’t Know
Vs 2
You’ll do your best to make her smile
But you’ll mess up every once in a while
Then you’ll slowly drift apart
No, you won’t change her heart
Cause that’s just how
The story goes
Yeah, there’s some things
I Wish I Didn’t Know
(Chorus)
Bridge
Like that last fight that sent her off
And that red light she never saw
And that last text
That she checked came from your phone
Yeah, there’s some things…
Damn those some things….
I Wish I Didn’t Know
Yeah, there’s some things
I Wish I Didn’t Know
Yeah , there’s some things
I Wish I Didn’t Know

James,
I really like the acoustic, I really like how you use the pre-chorus leading up to the chorus, “Yeah, there’s somethings I wish I Didn’t know.” I also, like When you sing the pre-chorus.
One thing that came to my mind during the chorus was maybe shorten, or change the flow in the words “Then you wake up one day to your bed cold” maybe, instead of using bed cold you could do “then you wake up one day alone.” Great structure!
