About This Song

This was written, produced and performed by me. It is just a simple love song of two people arguing and pleading to make up. This stands out to me as maybe the most simplistic of lyrics I can write... but I am not sure it needs anything more than that? Does that make sense? The demo soundtrack I loved doing with the horns section jabbing similar to mid 60s R&B. It would have been really cool to have a singer imitating a 'Sam and Dave' style but we are stuck with me. LOL

Feedback Requested

Can the song be relevant today? Does the song need an overhaul in the lyrical sense or is my simplistic approach proper? And if so... any ideas please throw them out there. Had I been co-writing with a lyricist on this one I probably would have appreciated something besides this approach. But then again, maybe this is Ok.

HI, Robert, Barry Guy here.
I like your varied arrangements in all of your songs and it`s great that you produce a full sound from your own studio.
I listened to your song `Love Me Tonight ` with interest and wondered if you had considered maybe a mid break with a string section. possibly playing the `main tune` in a swing way? the way your tune seems to float.?
It’s just a suggestion, you know us in the UK, we are not very experienced with your `country vibes but I can feel your efforts in your productions, they are rich.
ps Elvis could have done a job on this song for you.

Thanks Barry…

And sometimes I hate the idea of limiting a song for radio sake and just not doing it the way it should be done. Thanks for mentioning the break I could have put in. Someday I will probably regret just not doing it the way it should be done and not keeping something out for length of time sake. And yes, there could have been a great instrumental break that now that you brought it up is going through my mind with all different ways with strings, horns or snapping acoustic guitar. Oh my… I will be dreaming this tonight! LOL Thanks Barry.

Hi Robert,

Great retro feel and I enjoyed the flow of the music with the melody.  As far as the lyrics go yes, they are simplistic, but in this case I agree with you, they are enough as they fit the music and melody and leave a nice feeling of love in the air.  <smile>  In this case less is more. Great song!

(Verse 1)
Am C Am F
Love me tonight... and I'll hold you tight...
C G
Come lay by my side... till mornin' light...
Am F C Am (G)
Forget the world... and just be my girl...
F G C F C
If I hold you tight... would you love me tonight...

(Verse 2)
Am F C
I feel so alone... here on my own...
Am F G
It's gone too long... why don't we fix, now, whatever is wrong...
Am F C Am (G)
Let's do what's right... and no longer fight...
F G C F C
Let's start again, let this begin and love me tonight...

(Chorus)
F C
Love me tonight... let's start over again...
Am F G
Love me tonight... I'll hold you tight, let our new lives begin...
Am F C Am (G)
And you be my girl... and I'll give you my world...
F G C F C
And I'll hold you tight... with all your might, please love me tonight...

(Verse 3) (with chord structure of Verse 1)
I've traveled the world... without you girl...
Gone too many miles... without your smiles...
Let our new life begin... with new love again...
I'll hold you tight, and with all your might, please love me again...

(Repeat chorus and out)
