Hey James!  Love this song….is that you singing?  It’s a great vocal, and the chord changes in the chorus are excellent!  One thought I had was, you may consider taking your title/hook line out of the verses, so that it pays off even better in your chorus.  I think it may have more impact that way?  Something to think about.  Great work!

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve had a critique with the same advice so I’ll definitely be looking into what I can do there. Maybe use some metaphors. Glad you liked it! It’s in open G minor tuning. Fun tuning to play in.

And yes…thats me singing. Simple cell phone recording i then ran through Logic and EQ’d it to roll off the low end. Works for demo purposes nicely!

Hey James ... absolutely love it. simple, straightforward real love song ... along with others above, drop the ‘hook’ line from the verse end…don’t add a line in it’s place, just slide right into the chorus after “...she goes through hell for me” and “...stronger than any man could hope to be” ... I think it would add power to the hook without diminishing the verses at all ... great write ... blessings on ya <><

She Don’t Go Down...

Written by James Gregory

She Don’t Go Down That Easy

Vs1

Never leavin’s
The hardest thing she’s ever done
Oh I’ve seen it
In times she almost packed it up
Only heaven knows why she goes through hell for me
No, she don’t go down that easy

Chorus

Oh I’ve tried
Lord I’ve tried
One too many times
To push her love aside with all my drinkin
Oh but I’m a lucky man
To know a love that understands
Yeah, she fights for who I am despite my weakness
Thank God she ain’t like the whiskey
No, she don’t go down that easy

Vs2

I’d be lyin
If I swore that I had changed
But I’m findin
I’m getting better with her strength
Oh she’s stronger than any man could hope to be
No, she don’t go down that easy

(Chorus 2x’s)
