About This Song

This is not a pro demo. The only way I can create demos at this point is by playing the guitar and singing at the same time. I am currently writing the drum track so what you hear here is a work tape.

Feedback Requested

This is not based on a true story. I realize this breaks the rules of repetitiveness on all the "she" words but I had fun writing it.

I'm open to whatever feedback you all want to give me.

Thanks and God Bless.

Hey Ronnie!  Yep, you could drop most of the “she’s” and it wouldn’t change the meaning.  In fact, it makes you pay attention a little bit more and kick starts the imagination.

In the chorus, not sure if the U.S. Hey works.  I automatically sang USA, then jumped to the next line.  Speaking of which, “She’s American Made” would be a great title for your next song.

One last thing… in verse 2, you’re looking for your hat,  but nowhere was it mentioned how you lost it…

Keep writing!

Much appreciated Phillip! I was hoping “she”: wouldn’t get in the way. She really roped me in the other night and I went heart over head I guess.

I can do a rewrite and drop a few or more she words to give it some room to breathe.  I debated on the U.S. (A) Hey moment. I can drop the Hey and rework the missing hat in the picture somewhere.

Thanks again for the feedback!

Hey, Ronnie!  Just a couple things I’d point out.  I like (from a commercial point of view) that it’s positive and love.  I kinda dig the “US Hey.”  I’d reconsider the “She thinks she’s all that” because it usually means that someone is arrogant.  Sounds like you’re saying her ego is too big.  You could soften it by saying “She KNOWS she’s all that” and that’s why she’s confident.  Or even better would be something like, “I know she’s all that” so it’s about what YOU think about her, not what she thinks about herself.

Just a few thoughts.  Thanks for sharing!

Hey, Ronnie, I like your song. I ‘hear’ a version that is a bit faster, with mando and fiddle, and more dynamics ... you have a good one here!

Hi Ronnie,
I agree with Phillip, cut “she” some.  I was going to say add the A in USA also and you can keep the Hey too as it rhymes and fits in if you want

You could say V1 line 6:  “And she looks good wearing my cowboy hat.”  to explain where your hat is

I agree with Brent about “She thinks she’s all that”  I was thinking ” I know she’s all that” if you want to say it but Brent beat me to that also smile

It has potential, keep at it

Girl In A Cowboy Hat

Written by Ronnie Glenn

She walked through the door in low-cut jeans
She looked fit to be tied up all over me
She made her way to the end of the bar
Into the lights and out of the dark
She’s a red, white and blue Kentucky Wildcat
And she’s that kind of girl in a cowboy hat

Chorus
She’s a girl who loves late night dancing
Her heart keeps on ‘til dawn romancing
She thinks she's all that
She knows where it’s at
She’s a girl who loves to be in the sun
She makes friends with everyone
It’s a matter of fact
I know all about that
She’s American made in the U.S.
Hey! That’s my girl in the cowboy hat

It’s a good bar scene tonight my band’s on stage
When my blue jean country girl comes my way
Hats and heads turn as she struts on out
To the middle of this boot scooting crowd
Only God knows where that hat o’ mine is at
Oh Yeah! It’s on a girl in a cowboy hat

Repeat Chorus

Bridge
Let’s change these neon lights to a blanket of stars
Let’s jump in my old truck and get it out of park

Repeat Chorus

There’s my girl
She’s more than a girl in a cowboy hat
My, my, my… cowboy hat
