About This Song

This song is about my experiences with a severe crash after a couple of weeks of drug abuse/self-medicating to escape severe depression. I wrote this song after hitting rock bottom.

Feedback Requested

I may change the vocal performance, this song is older than All The Good Things & Watch You Burn, before my singing style changed from more reverb vocals to a more dry vocal recording mix.

What are your thoughts about the songwriting, vocal performance, etc.? Is this song demo worthy? Could anything be improved?

Any feedback is welcomed

Hey, Alec!  Thanks for sharing!  Wow… thanks for sharing your story with us.  I hope you’re on the way back up.

Now, rock isn’t my wheelhouse, but I can give you a non-expert opinion on your song.  I’d like to hear more rhymes in the verses, as well as more variation in the lyric from the 1st verse to the 2nd.  I dig some of the lines like “My mind is on low, but my nerves are on high.”  To me, the song title should be something like “slipping away” or “falling away.”  The phrase “spiral down” doesn’t appear in the song.  Remember, you want your fans to know what song to search on YouTube or (better yet) iTunes so they can jam to it again and BUY it!

Hope that helps!

And I just can't sleep
But I can't wake up
And I can't stand still
But I'm stuck in place
And my mind is on low
But my nerves are on high
And I'm floating in space
But it's a long way down
And I can't pretend
But I can't be me

And I feel my breathe slipping away
And I feel myself falling away
And I feel my bones breaking away
Hey

And I tried to move
But I can't wake up
And I won't stand still
But I'm stuck in place
And my mind is on low
But my nerves are on high
And I'm burning in space
But it's a long way down
And I tried to breathe
But it's just too late

And I feel my breathe slipping away
And I feel myself falling away
And I feel my breathe slipping away
And I feel myself falling away
