About This Song

Wrote this song for my first grandchild a few years back. I tried to write it from a universal point of view. This is a basic guitar/vocal recording. This song by no means is up to the standards of today's mainstream country music but it still touches my heart every time I listen to it. Even though I don't like the sound of my own voice.

Hey, Ronnie! Thanks for sharing! I like the title. It’s intriguing. Makes me want to hear what the song’s about. I like the story following the girl around. However, I feel it can be written more “to the hook.”  I feel like there’s some sort of gap or disconnect between the story (or the way it’s told) and the hook. Therefore, the hook isn’t as powerful as it could be.

But overall the story is clear, has a nice feel, and again, I really like the title. Hope that helps!

She’s Changing Lanes

Written by Ronnie Glenn

She's about to take her first steps Into the arms of her daddy
Momma won't let go just yet 'til that little girl's more steady
He says, come on I've got you child we're here if you fall
From ear to ear she smiles before she sits down and crawls

She's changing lanes, she's finding her own way
To begin this journey on her own
If she decides to settle down and let time crawl around
That's okay, 'cause she's not alone
Love remains even if she's changing lanes

Next thing they notice she's growing up too fast too soon
There's a cell phone, ipod and teen magazines in her room
Then there's that first time boyfriend knocking on the door
They see it in her eyes again she's not their little girl anymore

She's changing lanes, she's finding her own way
To begin this journey on her own
If she decides to settle down and let time crawl around
That's okay, 'cause she's not alone
Love remains even if she's changing lanes

Mom and day stand there in front of that little white church
They say a prayer along with those tiny tears that don't hurt
Ten minutes later those tail lights fade away down the street
She's ready to experience life standing on her own two feet

She's changing lanes, she's finding her own way
To begin this journey on her own
If she decides to settle down and let time crawl around
That's okay, 'cause she's not alone
Love remains even if she's changing lanes

Love remains even if she's changing lanes
