Brent, Nice to see another song posted. I love how unexpected this was when I clicked play. Its also, catchy. Nice job and good luck with it.

The lyrics are very sweet and touching. The music is written in a straightforward arrangement, and has some cool peaks in it. I would consider pitching this song as an idea for the very popular Uber services. For some reason, I thought of this as a placement for the song, if someone was trying to promote that service, and that could be a bit of a fun exposure, but I could see a very cool commercial out of it. Radio play - it definitely has a country rock vibe which is better than the country pop, in my opinion. smile

I like everything about this except “I’m someone that you barely know”. I think the character needs more of a connection to the girl if he expects she might ever call him if she needs a ride.

Nice, Brent! This one has an emotional pull in the verse that just feels right. And the play on “cab” is a great idea.

However, when I first heard “I’ve got a cab you can call,” my first thought was along the lines of, “here’s a quarter, call someone who cares.” Even though that misunderstanding gets cleared up by “the cab of my truck,” that first impression is important.

But overall, a solid song! Keep ‘em comin’!

I like how the song comes full circle, a complete song, a nice tempo, and the perfect voice to match this song. I love the instinctive way you play with words, without overdoing it.

I came to this through someone’s Frettie page. What a cool song.

There’s a great natural flow to the lyrics that feel as though they just tumbled out ready formed. Chorus has a good memorable set of phrases.

Could only be American! We have a few things in common - not sure if the language is one of them…

I’ve listened to almost all your songs you’ve posted and notice one thing - you’re consistently clever. Well two things - you consistently write them well!

A Cab You Can Call

Written by Brent Baxter

VERSE: I’ve seen you and I’ve seen that guy
So I know it’s just a matter of time
Till you see right through his lies
And you say goodbye
Yeah, I’m someone that you barely know
But let me put my number in your phone
In case I’m right and he hits the road
And you need a ride home

CHORUS: I got a cab you can call
The cab of my truck
Wherever you fall
I’ll come pick you up
Get you home safe and sound
Or we can just ride around
And around till the hurt is gone
(Hold on) I got a cab you can call

VERSE: If you’re out drowning hurt and had a little too much
Or you’re spinning your wheels and just feeling stuck
Or you need somebody who ain’t gonna judge
Girl, look that number up

CHORUS: [REPEAT]

BRIDGE: When you’re ready to forget about him
Call me up and climb on in

CHORUS:I’ll get you home safe and sound
Or we can just ride around
And around and around and around and around
[REPEAT FULL CHORUS]

TAG: I’ve seen you and I’ve seen that guy
So I know it’s just a matter of time
Till you see right through his lies
And you need a ride
