Really this song is just a reminder to not let your past get the better of you. It's more reflective than instructive, but the main message is to know when to let all of the delusions and idealistic situations go and just accept your life as it is.

This song came after breakup a few years back. This guy just didn't want to be in a relationship; he felt smothered no matter how much space I gave him. Hard as it was, I let him go. I wasn't going to compromise what I deserved in the relationship.
